Job description

The role is for performance marketing experts with a track record of getting startups investment-ready.  

  • Based Old Street, London

  • £50-80k package, depending on experience, plus equity

  • Full time, or potentially a part-time freelance position

HiddenCity creates real-world adventure games for adults. Players solve clues sent to their phone on a journey through the city. They unlock secret locations, interact with people they meet, and solve challenges.

Experiences are critically acclaimed, with coverage from BBC News, Time Out London, Evening Standard and more. HiddenCity partners have included The Guardian, Eastpak, and the City Of London Corporation. Customers rate HiddenCity, on average, 4.6 out of 5 stars.

There are currently nine games live which can be played every day of the week. Moriarty's Game is HiddenCity's most developed game, which sees players challenge Sherlock Holmes' nemesis. Players’ decisions influence where they go and the outcome of the story.

Following successful marketing tests run in Spring 2019, HiddenCity now see 1,000 people play the games every week. HiddenCity is looking for an expert in growth to take the business to 100% growth in the next 6-12 months and provide data to support a business model, ready for investment, prior to global expansion. You'll report to the CEO.


  1. Support the development of the business model through marketing tests that demonstrate the viability of the business, based on key growth metrics: LTV, CAC, Customer acquisition rate, repeat rate and referral rate.

  2. Seek to double revenue within 6-12 months:

    1. Run A-B tests via PPC with sensible choices made on statistically significant data.

    2. Identify new marketing campaigns, overseeing content development.

    3. Identify, specify, and oversee implementation of new marketing features in the website, and a future mobile app.

    4. Oversee marketing aspects of the customer support team.

    5. Define the marketing strategy for new games.


We’re looking for somebody with a track record of getting startups investment-ready.

You have experience of:

  • Contributing to the successful close of funding rounds.

  • Generating over 200% YOY growth at multiple organisations.

  • Digital marketing tools: Facebook/Instagram Ads (Expert), Google Ads (Expert), Google Analytics (Expert), Bing (Competent), SEO (Competent)

  • Managing an annual advertising spend of £1m+.

  • Optimising marketing funnels to significantly reduce CAC.

  • Ideally, development in PHP, Python, Google Ads Scripts.

  • Source control (Bitbucket)

  • Highly articulate - in writing, by telephone, and face-to-face.

  • Exceptionally proactive, well-organised and a problem-solver.

  • A planner - when faced with multiple conflicting priorities for your work ahead, you proactively create a realistic plan and share it with those that need to know.
